Shanghai, China – Cellia Xiao and Linda Jiang, the leadership team behind Shaws Education, recently joined a Canadian non-profit delegation on a visit to the Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association (SPDA), representing two Canadian organizations dedicated to international education, youth development, and innovation.
Ms. Xiao participated in the visit in her capacity as President of the Global Alliance for Learning & Talent (GALT), while Ms. Jiang represented the Global Federation of Youth AI (FGYAI) as its President. Together, they joined discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Canada and China in artificial intelligence, youth education, international academic exchange, and cultural engagement.
The delegation also included representatives from the North America Chinese Media Association (NACMA). During the meeting, participating organizations introduced their respective missions and explored opportunities for practical, long-term collaboration.
GALT is an international education organization headquartered in Vancouver, with a focus on building cross-border academic partnerships, supporting global learning opportunities, and connecting educational institutions across different regions.
FGYAI is committed to promoting AI literacy and innovation among young people through educational programs, practical learning experiences, international competitions, and collaborative platforms.
NACMA supports cultural understanding and community engagement through media, documentary production, and cross-cultural communication initiatives.
During the discussions, both sides exchanged ideas on how education, technology, and international cooperation can better prepare young people for an increasingly AI-driven world. Potential areas of collaboration included youth AI education, student and faculty exchange, international study programs, research collaboration, leadership development, and cultural projects.
Representatives from the Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association highlighted the important role of people-to-people exchange in strengthening mutual understanding between Canada and China. The discussion also reflected on the value of creating practical initiatives that translate international dialogue into meaningful educational and cultural outcomes.
